Doing Research and Enjoying
Explorers, researchers and travelers were frequent visitors well beforemountaineers and tourists discovered Avers and made the beauty of the Avers high mountain valley known to the rest of the world. They reported about the "wholesome tribe," compared the inhabitants with the "Hottentots," criticized them for being “laid back” and marveled at the intelligence of the "shepherd people". Later, scientists from Germany and other countries began to systematically explore the valley. Since the end of the 19th century, the Kurhaus, Hotel Heinz and Pension Edelweiss provided a suitable tourist infrastructure for visitors.
